Why. Exploring the uses of mobile sensing kits and potential privacy issues in public urban spaces.
What. A 1-day international workshop hosted at UbiComp 2013 in Zurich, Switzerland. Workshop attendees worked in teams to decide on a purpose for a mobile sensing kit and then design and build an appropriate enclosure. Teams took their kits into Zurich city centre to try them out with the general public. Enclosure design greatly impacted on levels of public engagement, trust and suspicion.
How. Brainstorming, rapid-prototyping, observations, interviews, qualitative analysis, in-the-wild study.
